Leicester City have officially announced the signing of Franco Lavezzoli, with the two sides signing a three-year contract.

Leicester City have officially announced that they have reached an agreement with Blackpool for the transfer of goalkeeper Franco Lavezzoli. The 29-year-old goalkeeper will sign a three-year contract with Leicester City, and the deal is still pending approval from the English Football League (EFL).

Franco Lavezzoli's arrival will further strengthen Leicester City's goalkeeping options, providing the team with more choices. The 29-year-old goalkeeper previously played for Eastbourne, Milton Keynes Dons, Wycombe Wanderers, and Blackpool, accumulating 99 official appearances in his career.

Speaking about joining Leicester City, Franco Lavezzoli expressed his excitement and anticipation, saying, "I'm very happy to be here at Leicester City. When I learned that the club wanted to sign me, I quickly realized it was an opportunity I couldn't miss. Now I'm ready for a new challenge in my career and I'm also very much looking forward to working with Russell Martin again."

“Leicester City is a club with ambitious goals and a strong desire to get back on track to success. I will do my best to contribute to the team’s goals. I have heard a lot of positive things about the club, the city, and the fans, which makes me believe that this is a great place for me to continue to grow. Going forward, I will continue to give my all in training and work hard to earn my playing time. I am really looking forward to officially starting this new journey.”

Franco Lavezzoli, born in Mar del Plata, Argentina, received his early football training at Independiente and Quilmes before continuing his development in River Plate's youth academy. In January 2020, he moved to England, joining the Borough of Eastbourne, then playing in the sixth tier of English football, where he made 30 appearances.

In June 2021, Franco Lavezzoli completed a transfer, joining Milton Keynes Dons. After two seasons with the team, he subsequently moved to Wycombe Wanderers, gradually becoming an important member of the team, making a total of 52 appearances in all competitions. In the summer of 2025, Franco Lavezzoli experienced another change in his career, joining Blackpool to continue gaining experience in the English professional leagues.

Franco Lavezzoli is about to embark on a new chapter in his career, officially joining Leicester City and preparing for the 2026/27 League One season. In their first match of the new season, Leicester City will face Notts County away on August 15th, and Lavezzoli is expected to begin his new season.
