Bayern Munich have officially announced the signing of 18-year-old Senegalese midfielder Bara Sapoko Ndiaye. The two sides have signed a long-term professional contract, valid until June 30, 2031. This will officially mark the start of the young midfielder's professional career at Bayern Munich.
Bala Sapoko Ndiaye arrived in Munich on loan from Gambia this winter and made four official appearances in the second half of the season. In his limited playing time, he demonstrated good potential and form, gradually earning the approval of Bayern Munich's coaching staff and management, ultimately leading to this permanent transfer.
The player previously received professional training at the Gambinos Stars Africa Football Academy in Gambia. Since 2023, the academy has partnered with Red & Gold Football, a joint venture between Bayern Munich and Los Angeles FC. It was through this partnership that Bayern was able to continuously monitor the development of Bala Sapoko Ndiaye, ultimately leading to the young midfielder's move to Munich.
Bayern Munich's sporting director, Christophe Freund, stated that Bala Sapoko Ndiaye is a very promising player who has quickly adapted to his new environment in Munich and gained the recognition of his teammates. Freund said, "We have been following Bala Sapoko Ndiaye for a long time. He previously served as the team captain and has made impressive progress over the past 24 months. Since arriving in Munich, he has further demonstrated his potential."
In terms of technical characteristics, Bala Sapoko Ndiaye primarily plays as a midfielder, possessing excellent speed and boundless energy, along with good ball control and game reading ability. Christoph Freund stated that Bala Sapoko Ndiaye not only demonstrates a high level of performance on the pitch but also possesses a positive personality off the field. He has become quite fluent in German and has quickly integrated into the Bayern Munich team environment.
Speaking about officially becoming a Bayern Munich player, Barra Sapoko Ndiaye couldn't hide his excitement. He said, "Today is a very important day for me and my family. I hope to learn from these excellent Bayern players every day and do my best to help the team. Becoming a member of Bayern is like a dream come true, and I am really happy."
“I also hope to be a role model for other young players, just like my teammates at Gambinos Stars inspired me. I hope to show them through my experience that as long as you persevere and work hard, you have the opportunity to join one of the world’s top clubs.”
