Panathinaikos made an offer for Jokic this summer and will pursue him again in 2027.

August 11th - According to ESPN , Greek powerhouse Panathinaikos seriously attempted to acquire Nikola Jokic this summer . Team owner Dimitrios Giannakopolos revealed that they plan to pursue the NBA superstar again in the summer of 2027 .

Giannakopolos said he made a very serious proposal to both the Nuggets and Jokic himself this summer , hoping to buy out Jokic’s remaining NBA contract, but it was quickly rejected by the Nuggets.

I did make a very serious offer to his team and him this year, but it was rejected, Janakopoulos said.

Currently, Jokic has two years remaining on his contract with the Nuggets, worth a total of $ 121.8 million, with a player option for the final year. This means Jokic has the opportunity to become a free agent in the summer of 2027 .

Jokic was eligible to sign a four- year, $ 278 million maximum contract extension with the Nuggets, but he chose to postpone his decision, stating that his wish is to stay in Denver for his entire career. For financial reasons, he plans to delay his contract decision until 2027 .

According to ESPN salary expert Bobby Marks , 31- year-old Jokic will be eligible to sign a 5- year, $ 359.5 million contract extension with the Nuggets, which would be the largest contract in NBA history.

However, Panathinaikos has not given up on pursuing Jokic. Giannakopolos has made it clear that if Jokic enters free agency next summer, the team will try again to sign the three-time MVP .
