Recalling his early days in the NBA, Lonzo Ball was amazed by the composure players displayed when they faced defeat.

In an interview, Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Lonzo Ball recalled his first experience in the NBA and how surprised he was by his teammates' composure in the face of defeat.

Lonzo Ball, 28, was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2017 NBA draft and played for the team for two seasons. Last season, he played for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

In the 2025/26 NBA regular season, Lonzo Ball played 35 games for the Cleveland Cavaliers, averaging 4.6 points per game with a field goal percentage of 30.1% and a three-point field goal percentage of 27.2%.

Recalling his first loss in the NBA, Lonzo Ball shared, "What I'd say is that it was the first time I looked around after losing a game and realized that nobody really cared about it. It shocked me a bit; I never expected the league to be like that."

“In the past, if I lost a game, I might be so sad that I would almost cry. I would be very angry, really, really angry.”

In addition, Lonzo Ball said, "But as I get older, I gradually understand why some players react that way. However, when I saw that scene, I was really shocked. Because we had just lost a game, but everyone was still there laughing and chatting."

"At the time, I felt like, 'Oh my god, I thought the NBA was the highest level of basketball, and we should be thinking about winning every game, but that's not the case.'"

Lonzo Ball also said, "However, after experiencing 82 regular season games, players can't even dwell on the previous loss for too long because there's another game to play the next day."
