Borussia Dortmund officially announce the signing of Genk's Greek international attacking midfielder wonderkid Konstantinos Karetsas..

Borussia Dortmund announced on their official website on Wednesday that they have signed Genk's Greek international attacking midfielder wonderkid Konstantinos Karetsas.

According to Dortmund's official statement, Karetsas has signed on a long-term four-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2031. He will also wear the number 19 jersey, which was vacated after Germany international attacking midfielder Julian Brandt had left the club.

Furthermore, according to Sky Sports Germany, the Bundesliga giants paid Genk a transfer fee of €33 million to sign Karetsas, not including €2 million in performance-related bonuses.

After completing his transfer procedures, Karetsas, who was interviewed by the Dortmund official website for the first time, said: "Borussia Dortmund is a special club, and I am incredibly proud to wear this black and yellow jersey. I am very much looking forward to getting to know my teammates and playing in this impressive stadium in front of the fans as soon as possible. I will do everything I can to ensure that we can achieve success together."

About Konstantinos Karetsas

Karetsas, who is only still 18 years old, was born on November 19, 2007, in Genk, Belgium. He is 1.71 meters tall and primarily plays as an attacking midfielder but can also play as a right winger. He holds dual Belgian and Greek citizenship.

Karetsas joined Genk's youth academy at the age of 8. In January 2020, he moved to the Anderlecht youth academy, but returned to Genk in the summer of 2023 and immediately started playing for Genk's reserve team.

In May 2024, Karetsas completed his Genk first-team debut by coming on as a substitute, breaking the record to become the youngest player to debut in Belgian football history.

During his two-year spell with Genk, Karetsas made 92 appearances for the Jupiler Pro League powerhouse, scoring 6 goals and providing 23 assists, where helped the team reach the Belgian Cup semi-final once and the UEFA Europa League Round of 16s once.
