Al-Diriyah announced on their official website on Wednesday that Atalanta and Albania national team captain, defender Berat Djimsiti has officially joined the club.
According to the newly promoted Saudi Pro League club's official statement, Djimsiti has signed on a short-term two-year deal with the club which will only run until the summer of 2028.
About Berat Djimsiti
Berat Djimsiti, 33, was born on February 19, 1993, in Zurich, Switzerland. He is 1.90 meters tall and primarily plays as a center-back, but can also play as a left-back or right-back. He holds dual Swiss and Albanian citizenship.
Djimsiti joined Zurich's youth academy at a young age and started playing with its U21s team in 2009, before completing his first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in March 2012.
During his seven-year spell with Zurich, Djimsiti won the Swiss Cup once.
In January 2016, Djimsiti joined Atalanta for €1 million.
Initially, Djimsiti played on-loan at Avellino and Benevento after joining the club. After returning to Atalanta following the end of his loan spell in the summer of 2018, he officially became one of Atalanta's key defenders.
During his 10-year spell with La Dea, Djimsiti made 334 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A powerhouse, scoring 11 goals and providing 10 assists. He won the UEFA Europa League once with the club, he is also the Albanian player with the most appearances in the league, the Champions League, and Atalanta's history.
