Oladipo: The King has shown interest in me; everything will be revealed soon.

Victor Oladipo confirmed on Thursday that the Sacramento Kings are considering signing him. The possibility of a partnership between the two has increased significantly following Russell Westbrook's retirement announcement.

“They (the Kings) have definitely shown some interest,” Oladipo said on a Yahoo Sports podcast. “As NBA rosters take shape and training camp approaches, everything will soon be clear. I think the Kings are definitely interested in me, and I’m equally open to joining them. We’ll see.”

As the second overall pick in the 2013 NBA draft, Victor Oladipo was one of the most influential combo guards in the league during his prime. He played for the Orlando Magic, Oklahoma City Thunder, Indiana Pacers, Houston Rockets, and Miami Heat, appearing in 504 regular season games and averaging 16.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.6 steals in 32.2 minutes per game. He also earned numerous accolades, including two All-Star selections, one All-Defensive First Team selection, and one steals title.

Oladipo also played 33 playoff games, averaging 14.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.6 steals in 29.6 minutes per game. His most representative playoff achievement was undoubtedly leading the Heat to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2022.

Affected by injuries including a torn patellar tendon in his left knee and a torn quadriceps muscle in his right thigh, Oladipo has not played in the NBA since 2023. He participated in an open workout in Las Vegas last month, and representatives from the Sacramento Kings were also present to observe.

If he ultimately joins the Kings, the 34-year-old Oladipo will be entering his 13th NBA season. Besides bringing experience and leadership to the Kings, he is also expected to play a role in developing young players.
