Official: Manchester City extend contract of 24-year-old winger Doku until June 2031

Manchester City announced on Thursday that they have finalized a contract extension with Jeremy Doku. The new contract extends the original 2028 expiry date by three years, until June 30, 2031.

The 24-year-old Doku came through the Anderlecht youth academy and transferred from Rennes to Manchester City in August 2023 for €60 million. He quickly developed into one of the Premier League's most dangerous wingers, making 131 appearances to date, scoring 22 goals and providing 34 assists, and winning the Premier League title, FA Cup, League Cup and Community Shield once each with the team.

Doku has also made 48 appearances for the Belgian national team, including two European Championships (2021, 2024) and two World Cups (2022, 2026). He has scored 7 goals and provided 16 assists to date, and was a key player for the team in reaching the quarterfinals of the 2026 World Cup.

After completing the contract extension, Doku said through Manchester City's official channels: "I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Manchester City so far. I am incredibly excited to have the opportunity to stay with the team."

“This club means a lot to me – I have grown a lot both in terms of my skills and as a person.”

“I have settled down here. Thanks to the hard work of the club staff, I can clearly feel myself improving every day.”

"It's hard to put into words how much this club helps the players. I never take anything for granted, and it makes me a better player."

“With Enzo Maresca’s arrival, I am very excited for the new season. His football philosophy is exactly what we like and it also makes the players very excited.”

"Manchester City fans are one of the key reasons I renewed my contract. I can feel their love and support, which means a lot to me. I will do my best to bring them the success they deserve."

Manchester City's sporting director, Hugo Viana, added: "Jeremy is an exceptionally talented player. His progress since joining in 2023 has been remarkable."

“His style is unique. He has all the qualities we require of a winger. He truly creates unique value for the team.”

"Jeremy is also a great guy. He's loved by everyone at the club. He has a fantastic attitude and is eager to improve every day."

“He deserves a new contract, and I believe he will continue to improve in the coming months and years.”
