Arsenal are set to kick off their new season at the Millennium Stadium with a Community Shield match against FA Cup winners Manchester City.
Head coach Mikel Arteta said at the pre-match press conference that the whole team is in high spirits and in excellent form, and is ready to go all out for the first championship trophy of the season.
As last season's Premier League champions, Arsenal have displayed a strong competitive spirit. In an interview, Arteta praised the players' preseason return to form: "We are incredibly excited to start the new season, and it would be perfect to begin by competing for our first title."
"All the national team players have returned to the team, and you can clearly feel their hunger for victory from everyone, which is an excellent sign. Most players even returned to the training base earlier than expected, and all their physical fitness test indicators are at their top level. When everyone looks around the locker room and sees the lineup we are building, the team is full of passion."
It's worth noting that this match is also Arsenal's first time facing a Manchester City team not managed by Guardiola since 2016, and new manager Enzo Maresca will make his official debut for Manchester City.
Speaking about their upcoming opponent's new manager, Arteta gave him high praise in an interview: "Maresca possesses outstanding leadership qualities and excellent tactical understanding. Manchester City has good reason to choose him; he has proven his coaching abilities at Chelsea and in the Champions League. I have no doubt that he will succeed at Manchester City, and this is destined to be a great match."
