Joe Gerhardt has officially joined Hull City, with a contract running until 2030.

Hull City have officially announced the permanent transfer of striker Joe Gerhardt, formerly of Leeds United. The two sides signed a four-year contract, running until the summer of 2030, with Hull City having an option to extend for another year. The specific transfer fee has not yet been disclosed.  

Over the past 18 months, Joe Gerhardt has joined Hull City on loan twice and gradually became an important member of the team's promotion bid. During his time with the club, he made 64 appearances in all competitions, contributing 20 goals. Last season, he scored 15 goals, second only to Ollie McBurnie, who scored the crucial goal in the Wembley final.  

In that unforgettable second leg of the promotion play-off semi-final, Joe Gerhardt scored the team's second goal, helping Hull City defeat Millwall away from home and laying an important foundation for the team's eventual promotion.  

Born in Liverpool, Joe Gerhardt first joined Hull City on loan in January 2025. Since then, he scored in his first home start against Queens Park Rangers, netting a brilliant half-volley to open the scoring and quickly winning the fans' approval and affection.  

Subsequently, Joe Gerhardt scored in matches against Plymouth, Oxford United, and Preston North End, playing a crucial role in Hull City's eventual survival in the Premier League. That season, he made 20 appearances for the team, contributing 5 goals, finishing joint second in the team's scoring charts.  

Joe Gerhardt returned to Hull City last summer and quickly found his scoring touch. He netted his first league goal of the 2025/26 season in Hull City's 3-2 victory over Oxford United. The striker then enjoyed a hot streak, scoring eight goals in ten consecutive matches from mid-October to early December.  

In the match against Leicester City, Joe Gerhardt participated in a brilliant team play and ultimately converted the attack into a goal, which was subsequently voted the Championship Goal of the Month for October. Throughout the season, he made 44 appearances for Hull City, starting 37 of them. Previously, the Wigan Athletic striker also made 35 Premier League appearances for Leeds United, spanning the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons.  

Speaking about officially joining Hull City, Joe Gerhardt said: "I'm really happy. The past 18 months here have been wonderful, and I've enjoyed every moment with the team. After the season ended, I knew very well where I wanted to go. Luckily, that wish has finally come true."
