Brighton announced on its official website on Saturday that the club has extended the contract of its Paraguay international midfielder Diego Gómez.
According to Brighton’s official statement, Gómez has signed on a new log-term five-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2031.
About Diego Gómez
Diego Gómez, 23, was born on March 27, 2003, in San Juan Bautista, Paraguay. He is 1.83 meters tall and primarily plays as a center midfielder, but can also play as as an attacking midfielder, defensive midfielder, or left winger.
Gómez joined the Libertad youth academy at a young age and completed his Libertad first-team debut by coming on in a Copa Libertadores match in late August 2022.
During his time at Libertad, Gómez helped the team win the Paraguayan Primera División twice.
In July 2023, Gómez joined Inter Miami for $2 million.
During his time at Inter Miami, Gómez helped the team win the Major League Soccer (MLS) Supporters’ Shield once and the Leagues Cup once.
In January 2025, Gómez joined Brighton for $11 million.
Since joining the Seagulls, Gómez has so far made 56 appearances across all competitions for the Premier League club, scoring 11 goals and providing 2 assists.
