Scotland will host Slovenia at Hampden Park in the fourth round of Group E in the 2026/27 UEFA Nations League. Manager Pocognoli stated that while the training camp has been long for everyone, it has been essential for the "Highland Warriors."
Scotland defeated North Macedonia 2-0 in their last group stage match, thanks to goals from Kieran Bowie and McGinn. Scotland currently sits third in Group E.
Scotland manager Pocognoli said, "To be honest, I think this four-week training camp is indeed a long time, but it is very necessary for me to follow my own plan and integrate with the team."
"The first week in Spain was like gold. My task with the coaching staff and I was to make the most of every second of the training camp and build the team we wanted as quickly as possible, so I am very satisfied."
Pocognoli also said, "I can imagine that for national teams that have participated in the World Cup before, are coached by the same manager, and have the same group of players, such a long training camp might feel like a long time. But for us, this period has been fantastic."
"We just need to find the right time during the training camp to allow everyone to adjust and relax mentally, because when players and the team are together every day and traveling frequently, the process can indeed feel very tedious. So we have been trying to find a good balance."
