Europa League – Tolisso's early strike and Keito Namura's brace lead Lyon to a 3-2 home victory over Crystal Palace.

In the second round of the 2026/27 UEFA Europa League, Lyon hosted Crystal Palace at home. They ultimately defeated their opponents 3-2, securing their eighth place in the standings with two wins out of two matches.

Early in the game, Crystal Palace gifted Lyon a goal: in the 8th minute, Ernesto Novama's corner kick hit Jedi Canverté and bounced to Corentin Tolisso, who then swept the ball into the net to give Lyon the lead.

After taking the lead, Lyon created several more threats. In the 31st minute, Tolisso delivered a long cross from the left side of the penalty area, and Nova's header at the far post was saved by Walter Benitez. In the 42nd minute, Nakamura Keito cut inside to the left side of the penalty area and passed the ball back to Nova, whose low shot was blocked by Canvertét. In the second minute of first-half stoppage time, Nakamura Keito again broke into the penalty area from the left and then assisted Nova to score.

At the start of the second half, Crystal Palace, having conceded two goals, launched an attack on Lyon. In the 50th minute, Adam Walton delivered a precise through ball, and Jeremy Pino volleyed home inside the box to pull one back. In the 54th minute, Walton's corner from the right was headed high and wide by Jürgen Strand Larsson at the far post. In the 72nd minute, Pino crossed from the right, and Daichi Kamada's close-range shot was brilliantly saved by Dominique Graves.

As the game progressed, Lyon gradually regained control of the match. In the 75th minute, Keito Nakamura made a long pass from midfield, linking up with the sprinting Keir Budách, but the latter's low shot inside the penalty area went just wide. In the 76th minute, Noah Nalti broke through on the right wing and passed the ball back to Nakamura, whose cross-shot-like pass inside the penalty area assisted Pavel Schulz to score and extend Lyon's lead.

In the 81st minute, Tyler Morton's low cross from the right side of the penalty area caused Morton to misjudge the ball, allowing Daichi Kamada to capitalize on the rebound and score. Neither side managed to score again, and the final score remained 3-2.
