Venice announced on Thursday that it has renewed its contract with John Yeboa. The new contract will run from 2028 to June 30, 2030, with an option to extend for another year.
For Yeboa, his main task after the contract extension is to fight for survival under coach Davide Nicola. Venezia has had a poor start to the season, currently sitting at the bottom of Serie A with six losses in six matches.
Born in Hamburg, Germany, the 26-year-old Yeboa officially joined Wolfsburg's youth academy at the age of 15. He initially played as a right winger, but was gradually transformed into a versatile attacker capable of playing on both flanks, as an attacking midfielder, center forward, and second striker.
On November 3, 2018, Yeboa made his first-team debut for Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga's 10th round match against Borussia Dortmund. He later played for VVV-Venlo, Willem II, Almere City, Duisburg, Wrocław, and Częstoğlu, his career spanning the Netherlands, Germany, and Poland.
Since joining Venezia in August 2024, Yeboa has made 76 appearances in all competitions, scoring 15 goals and providing 13 assists. His most important contribution to Venezia so far has undoubtedly been helping the team return to Serie A as champions in Serie B last season.
At the national team level, Yeboa chose to represent his mother's homeland, Ecuador. He has played 30 games for Ecuador to date, contributing 3 goals and 4 assists, and has participated in the 2024 Copa America and the 2026 World Cup.
