Juan Iglesias: We must continue to unite and show our true character and fighting spirit on the field.

Sevilla right-back Juan Iglesias recently gave an interview to the club's official media program, "Solo el Sevilla," sharing his thoughts on the team's recent performances, his integration into the team, the dressing room atmosphere, and the upcoming matches. The player, who is starting his season with Sevilla for the first time, also took the opportunity to reflect on the various events the team has experienced recently.

Speaking about the previous round's match against Levante, Juan Iglesias said, "We've already moved on from that game. After the match, on the way home, we still felt like we had lost because the team had been in control of the game, but then something unexpected happened in the last minute. In fact, we did a lot of things very well in the game and were fully capable of taking a victory."

“I don’t think the decision to send off Isak was fair. Although the rules of the game do have provisions for this kind of situation, similar things have happened many times in the past, and the referee has never shown a yellow card for it. In my opinion, there were other ways to handle it. Especially for a decision that forces the team to play with one less player, there should be clear and explicit grounds for it. Such a decision should only be made when the foul is very obvious. This time, the player was clearly not protected enough.”

Juan Iglesias expressed satisfaction with the team's start to the season. He said, "So far, I'm very pleased with the team's overall performance. Both how we feel internally and how the team appears to the outside world are showing good form. Although there may have been some doubts before, everyone has been working towards a common goal since the start of the season, and the fans have always been steadfast in their support."

“We demonstrate the team’s strength and competitiveness every week through our performance on the field. We have added a lot of new players to the squad, and everyone needs time to integrate and build chemistry, which is not an easy task. If I were to rate the team’s current performance, I would give it a 9.5 out of 10. Of course, there are still areas where we can improve, but the overall direction is correct, and the team is steadily moving towards achieving its goals and getting good results.”

Juan Iglesias spoke highly of the head coach, coaching staff, and the club's sporting department. He said, "The head coach, coaching staff, and sporting department have all done an outstanding job. It's no easy task to help all the players integrate into the team in such a short time. We not only needed to quickly understand the team's tactical approach, but also had to adapt to new teammates who joined just before the transfer window closed."

"Football matches don't give you much time to think, so players must adapt to the pace quickly. Judging from the current situation, the team is doing a very good job in this regard. The overall atmosphere in the locker room is very united, which is an essential element of modern football. We will inevitably encounter some slumps, but at those times, team cohesion will be key to helping us get out of trouble as quickly as possible and minimize the impact of difficult periods. We always understand that any opponent who wants to beat us must put in a tremendous effort."

Speaking about the team's goals for the season and the support from the fans, Juan Iglesias said: "We must have lofty ambitions, but we cannot set overly rigid goals for ourselves. We need to recognize the reality the team has faced in the past few years, and the primary task is to restore stability as soon as possible while continuing to pursue progress. We have been adhering to this philosophy since the beginning of the season, and this attitude will continue until the end of the season next May."

"On match days, the stadium is always filled with passion and energy. Whether it's a home game or a trip to an away game, seeing the away fans filling the stands to support us is always touching. Even though the game is on a Monday, so many fans still come to support us, and this support gives us no reason to hold back in every sprint on the field."

"Team cohesion is a key factor in our progress. Whenever Isak scores, all the players on the bench get up and rush out to celebrate with their teammates. Not every team can show this kind of unity, especially for players who don't get much playing time and are facing difficulties. It's even more valuable that they can still genuinely rejoice in their teammates' goals. We must continue to maintain this spirit of unity, never slacken in our efforts and dedication, and always be ready to step up when the team needs us."

"Football and life have many similarities. There will always be difficulties on the road ahead, and we need to constantly find motivation. Whether it is the club's status, the influence of the city, or the size of the organization, Sevilla's value is unquestionable. Even though the team is currently facing some challenges, it will not change because of this. This club has reached the top, and such an experience proves that maintaining top competitiveness every season is by no means an easy task."

"I feel like I've been playing here for many years. Training hard, competing actively, and giving my all in every game until the final whistle blows—that's the football spirit in my bones. Perhaps I perform better in some games and less so in others, but no matter how I perform, I will always maintain this attitude."

Finally, Juan Iglesias, speaking about the team's upcoming away match against Real Madrid, said the players should approach the challenge with a relaxed, confident, and positive attitude. He stated, "We should step onto the pitch as relaxed as possible, maintain a cheerful mood, and strive to play a great game. Don't put too much pressure on yourselves, and don't burden yourselves with extra psychological baggage just because the opponent is Real Madrid."

“We must show the necessary personality and fighting spirit, and always remember that we represent Sevilla. This is the attitude we should take when we go to the Bernabéu. The whole team needs to be confident, resolute, and show enough ambition. We need to make Real Madrid understand that Sevilla is not an easy team to deal with.”
