Warriors center Kristaps Porzingis has been confirmed to be sidelined indefinitely due to health issues.

The Golden State Warriors officially announced on Wednesday that Latvian center Kristaps Porzingis will be sidelined indefinitely due to health issues. This follows his absence from training camp and the first five preseason games.

As the fourth overall pick in the 2015 NBA draft, the 30-year-old Kristaps Porzingis has played for the New York Knicks, Dallas Mavericks, Washington Wizards, Boston Celtics, and Atlanta Hawks. During this time, he has played a total of 518 regular season games, averaging 19.6 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.8 blocks in 30.5 minutes per game, and won the 2024 NBA championship with the Celtics.

In February of this year, Kristaps Porzingis was traded to the Warriors in a deal involving Jonathan Cuminga. Suffering from orthostatic tachycardia (POTS), he has only played 15 games for the Warriors so far, averaging 16.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.1 blocks in 23.7 minutes per game, shooting 43.3% from the field and 31.1% from three-point range.

According to an official announcement, Kristaps Porzingis returned to the Warriors' training facility yesterday. Upon his return, he immediately met with Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. and medical director Rick Celebrini, but the team did not disclose the specific content of the conversation.

The official statement also confirmed that Porzingis will remain with the Warriors. Regarding Porzingis's future situation, the Warriors stated that they will announce details when the information is clear and the time is right.

Porzingis also shared his health status on social media. He stated on the X platform, "I'm working with doctors and specialists to find ways to fully recover as quickly as possible. Honestly, I'm getting better every day. I just need to be patient and believe I'll be back to my best soon."

"It's certainly frustrating to face some health issues with unclear causes, coupled with various injuries accumulated throughout my career. However, we will definitely overcome these difficulties."

"Health is wealth. Thank you for all your support."

In response to speculation that he might have contracted HIV, Porzingis stated, "Thank you to all the online doctors who tried to diagnose and help me, but I am currently under the most professional care. You can all rest assured now. I am not infected with HIV, nor do I have AIDS."

With Kristaps Porzingis unavailable for the start of the season, the Warriors are expected to rely on either Draymond Green or Al Horford at center for the time being. Additionally, Charles Bazi, who has a one-year contract, is also considered an option.
