Gareth Southgate recently confirmed that he has no intention of returning to coaching.
Gareth Southgate, 56, has not managed a team since resigning as England manager in July 2024. He took over the Three Lions in September 2016, succeeding Sam Allardyce, and achieved a record of 64 wins, 20 draws, and 18 losses during his tenure. He also led the team to two World Cups (2018, 2022) and two European Championships (2021, 2024).
When asked if he would return to coaching, Southgate stated unequivocally on Thursday's "Amor Rajan Connect" podcast: "I must say, I see no possibility of it."
He later added: "Towards the end of my time managing England, there was at least a period when I didn't feel any joy. At that time, I could only rely on winning to keep going."
"In the end, I could only maintain the joy of victory for a few minutes. Nowadays, I almost never watch football anymore."
“I went to watch the FA Cup final live just to witness my team Crystal Palace win their first trophy in history. Since then, I haven’t stepped onto a pitch. You could say my desire to be involved in football affairs has long since changed.”
