Jody Fernandez continues to adapt to the role of head coach, saying he has learned a lot from other coaches.

Brooklyn Nets head coach Jody Fernandez shared in an interview that he has learned a lot from other coaches, and that he must continue to adapt to the role of head coach.

Jody Fernandez, 43, was appointed head coach of the Brooklyn Nets in April 2024. However, the Brooklyn Nets only won 20 games and finished 13th in the Eastern Conference in the 2025/26 NBA season, missing the playoffs.

Brooklyn Nets head coach Jody Fernandez said, "It's a process of continuous growth, and I have to learn how to perform in this position. When I got this job, I always believed I was ready. Even though I had coached teams and served as a head coach before, to be honest, basketball itself is probably the easiest part."

"Next comes the meaning of the head coach's role itself, the responsibilities that Bao needs to bear, and the daily contact and communication with many people. I think it's been a wonderful journey. I've learned a lot and grown a lot, and most importantly, I've been able to work with excellent people."

Furthermore, Jody Fernandez added, "I think it's about all of us, not just individuals. It depends on how we build the team and how we work together to get the team to its best. This has always been a belief of mine, something I've learned from other great managers, and something I hope to put into practice here."
