Arsenal will travel to the Puskás Arena to face defending champions Paris Saint-Germain in the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League final. England striker Saka has stated that the players are incredibly motivated and hope to make history for the club.
With goals from Jesus and Maduk, Arsenal beat Crystal Palace 2-1 in the final round of the 2025/26 Premier League season to lift the Premier League title at Selhurst Park.
"We know the history of this club, and we know that tomorrow we have the opportunity to make history as the first players to help Arsenal win the Champions League. That alone is enough to be a huge motivation for us," said Saka, 24.
"Everyone knows my upbringing. I started my football career at the Hellende youth academy when I was seven or eight years old. At that time, winning the Premier League or the Champions League with Arsenal seemed like a very distant dream."
Saka said, "But over the past week, everything seems to have gradually become a reality. I am incredibly excited about the chance to compete for the championship again tomorrow, and I hope to help my beloved club make history."
Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard said at a press conference, "From a young age in Norway, when I was playing football with my friends on small pitches, I've always dreamed of winning a trophy like this. Now we have the opportunity to accomplish something that no one has ever done before, which is truly special."
“It’s been 22 years since Arsenal last won the Premier League title, and now we’ve finally done it. So we want to make more history. Once you’ve experienced winning a title and lifting the trophy, you know how wonderful that feels. So, of course we want to do it again.”
Odegaard continued, "This means a lot to everyone, and to all our fans, and we are ready. I am really looking forward to the game."
Furthermore, Arsenal lost both legs of the Champions League semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain last season. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta commented, "We will learn from our previous matches against them, and there are indeed many things to analyze. At the same time, we have grown and improved in different ways, and they have changed as well."
Speaking about Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique, Mikel Arteta said, "From his playing days, he has been a role model to learn from because he was a very special player. Later, as a coach, his experiences coaching overseas teams after leaving Spain, as well as his experiences after returning to Spain, and his achievements are all impressive."
“Especially at Paris Saint-Germain, everyone can clearly see his influence. Whether it's the team's style, fighting spirit, the players' playing style, or their performance on the field, his philosophy is fully reflected. Therefore, he has always been someone I learn from. And tomorrow, we will compete as opponents on the sidelines.”
