The recovery process is not easy, and Isak hopes to be in better shape for the World Cup.

Liverpool striker Isak said in an interview that the process of recovering from injuries in the past has been very tedious and difficult, but he hopes to be in better shape for the 2026 World Cup.

The Swedish national team previously announced its 26-man squad for the 2026 World Cup, with Isak, Lucas Berivall, and Dzekereš among those called up.

The 26-year-old Isak joined Liverpool last September and signed a long-term contract. However, in the Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur in December, Isak suffered a serious injury and was sidelined for about 16 weeks. As a result, he only made 14 appearances for Liverpool in the 2025/26 Premier League season, but still managed to score 3 goals and provide 1 assist.

But in the end, Liverpool only finished 5th in the Premier League this season.

Isak shared, "This period has indeed been challenging, and I have gone through a lot of rehabilitation training. This is the most tedious part of football, and long hours of rehabilitation training is not a fun thing, but there are also positive aspects."

“During the international match days in March this year, I could only watch the games on TV from my sofa at home, which was a very memorable experience. This has become an important motivation for me to work hard to recover and to be able to come here and spend a wonderful summer with everyone.”

In addition, Sweden will play two friendly matches against Norway and Greece, followed by a World Cup group stage match against Tunisia in the first round of Group F.

Isak also said, "The most important thing now is to be in top form for the first World Cup match. There is still some time, and I can continue to work hard and make adjustments for it."
