Riot Games announced on its official website on Saturday that Bilibili Gaming (BLG)'s top laner, Chen Zebin (ID: Bin), has been fined 150,000 Chinese Yuan for violating professional ethics.
According to the official statement, Bin failed to fulfill his obligations during the on-stage interaction segment of the competition, violating professional ethics, disrupting the standardized operation of the competition, and affecting the viewing experience. Therefore, he has been fined 150,000 Chinese Yuan, publicly criticized throughout the league, and ordered to undergo training and education within a specified period.
In addition, BLG was also fined 50,000 Chinese Yuan and publicly criticized for neglecting its disciplinary duties.
Recently, a controversial short video clip of Bin circulated online. In the clip, before the start of the LPL Spring Finals match between BLG and EDG, Bin refused to interact with enthusiastic fans standing by the fence who wanted to high-five him, showing no expression throughout his entrance, sparking controversy.
As the video went viral, their actions ultimately prompted Riot Games to invoke Article 12.2 of the League of Legends Professional League Competition Rules to fine Bin and BLG.
In fact, Bin and BLG are not the first individuals or organizations to be punished by Riot Games. MOVISTAR KOI, its mid-laner Jojopyun, and Karmine Corp (KC) were also fined for violating conduct rules.
The incident originated from an event held in Madrid three weeks prior. French streamer TraYtoN posted that he attended the event and watched the opening match between KC and G2, but his viewing experience was terrible.
As a result, the event organizer immediately posted a harsh critique of TraYtoN, even using vulgar language and insults against the Karmine Corp (KC) fanbase, prompting the team's management to cancel the match.
Later, KC's star ADC player, Caliste, after achieving a pentakill in the first round of the match, deliberately raised his index finger, implying "shut up."
Jojopyun then retaliated with profanity, declaring that he would thoroughly humiliate KC in their next match, instantly escalating the tension between the two teams.
Ultimately, this series of provocative actions caught the attention of Riot Games, resulting in each team being fined €9,000. However, Caliste escaped punishment, while Jojopyun received his second warning within a year.
