Sevilla have confirmed the signing of right-back Juan Iglesias on a four-year contract. The player joined the team as a free agent after his contract with Getafe expired. He came through the youth academy of Real Valladolid and played for Valladolid B in the Spanish Third Division during the 2016/17 season while still a youth player.
The following season, the player joined UD Logroñés at the age of 18. He initially started in the team's B squad (the fourth tier of Spanish football), but soon made his first-team debut and established himself in the squad during the 2018/19 season. That season, he made a total of 37 appearances in the Segunda División B (including the promotion play-off final against Hercules) and 2 Copa del Rey matches. His consistent performances led to his signing with Getafe in the summer of 2019.
At Getafe, he gradually established himself in the first team. In his first season after joining, he played for the B team in the Segunda División B, but he entered the first team starting in the 2020/21 season and played for the team for the next six seasons. During this time, he made a total of 175 official appearances, including 159 La Liga matches and 16 Copa del Rey matches, scoring 2 goals and providing 9 assists.
This season, Juan Iglesias helped his team secure UEFA qualification and became an absolute key player in Bordárs' tactical system, missing only one league game, surpassing 3000 minutes of playing time, and contributing one goal and two assists. In addition, he also provided an assist in the first round of the Copa del Rey against Inter Valdmoro.
