England will face a formidable Croatia in their opening Group L match of the 2026 World Cup. England defender Reece James stated that he has been working hard to prepare for his World Cup debut and will give his all for the "Three Lions."
In last week's friendly match, England secured a 3-0 victory over Costa Rica thanks to goals from Rice, Gordon, and Watkins, thus making their way into the World Cup.
Chelsea captain Reece James said in an interview, "As everyone says, timing is really important, and I've missed several major tournaments. I've been working hard to prepare for this World Cup and to be in the best possible condition for the competition, and I will give my all for my country."
“I had a wonderful time working with manager Tuchel at Chelsea, and I’m delighted that he is now the England manager and that I can work with him again.”
Reece James emphasized, "We're here to win the World Cup, not just to compete. Like right now, we're climbing a mountain, and we haven't reached the summit yet."
"Of course we still have room for improvement, and it's good to see the fans' high expectations. But for us, the tournament hasn't even officially started yet, so we still have a long way to go."
In addition, Reece James stated, "We also experienced several game postponements last year, which is an issue that both teams have to face. All we can do is prepare as well as possible for whatever might happen, and learning to adapt to and accept challenges is also part of the preparation."
"As I said, this applies to both sides, not just us. So we just need to do our best to be prepared."
