The second round of Group E matches in the 2026 World Cup will feature a key game, with Germany traveling to the BMO Stadium to challenge Ivory Coast. Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer stated that the team must try to avoid careless mistakes and remain focused at all times during the match.
In the first round's key match, Germany defeated Curaçao 7-1 after goals from Nmecha, Schlotterbeck, Havertz, Musiala, Nathaniel Brown, and Windav, gaining an advantage in advancing to the World Cup's round of 32.
German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer said, "Our goal was to advance early, and everything is in our own hands. We've had a good start, and we don't want to dwell on what happened in the past few tournaments. The players aren't dwelling on those experiences either; all our focus is on the next step, which for us is the match against Ivory Coast."
“We will face a strong team in Toronto, but we are fully prepared. We know exactly what challenges we will face, and I think Ivory Coast knows just as well.”
Furthermore, Neuer pointed out, "It would be a very special thing if we could secure qualification after just two games. Only then can we start looking at our bigger goals. There are a lot of people talking about the match against France, but we're not thinking that far ahead; we just want to focus on the next game."
"For us, the key is to maintain a good formation when in possession, avoid careless mistakes, and ensure we have enough protection behind us when attacking. We know their players; they all have excellent speed, especially the forwards."
Neuer also stated, "This also means that we cannot relax for even a second. We must remain alert at all times and react quickly during transitions between attack and defense, whether we have the ball or not."
