Michael Brown, 20, will join the Brooklyn Nets with the 6th overall pick in the 2026 NBA draft. Brown said he hopes to help the team rediscover its winning culture with his teammates.
Michael Brown Jr., who plays point guard, came from the Louisville Cardinals basketball team and played 21 games in the 2025/26 season, shooting 41.0% from the field and 34.4% from three-point range.
When asked about his goals after joining the Brooklyn Nets, Michael Brown Jr. said, "The most important thing for us is to rediscover the winning mentality that the Brooklyn Nets used to have. Everyone saw that atmosphere when we had Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden, and everyone has experienced it before."
Reflecting on the Brooklyn Nets' journey in the 2020/21 NBA season, Michael Brown Jr. said, "They were just one shot away from the Eastern Conference Finals, and you could see how competitive they were from that series. We hope to rediscover the winning culture that the team once had and rebuild the pride that belongs to the Brooklyn Nets."
Regarding the challenges he will face next season, Michael Brown Jr. said, "Actually, I've been preparing for this moment all along. Of course, I still need time to adapt to the physicality and overall pace of the game. The NBA is on a completely different level from college and high school basketball, but I feel ready. I've done a lot of research and I know what I need to do when I enter the league."
“If I walk down the street and tell people I’m from Brooklyn, they will proudly identify with that identity. Now, I can carry that honor on my shoulders, which means a lot to me.”
