The Magic cut Jonathan Isaac to free up $6.5 million in salary cap space.

June 28th - According to ESPN , the Orlando Magic have officially waived forward Jonathan Isaac . This move will free up salary cap space for the team in preparation for the upcoming NBA free agency market .

Isaac's $ 14.5 million contract for next season was originally scheduled to become fully guaranteed on June 28. According to ESPN salary expert Bobby Marks , the Magic are expected to save approximately $ 6.5 million through this move, freeing up more salary cap space for future team operations.

The 28- year-old Isaac, who is 2.08 meters tall , was selected by the Orlando Magic with the 6th overall pick in the first round of the 2017 NBA Draft. Over the past nine seasons , he has been plagued by injuries, playing more than 70 games in only two seasons during his time with the Magic , and missing the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons due to a torn ACL in his left knee.

Last season, Isaac played 52 games, averaging 2.6 points and 2.5 rebounds. Due to a left knee sprain, he missed the final 22 games of the regular season and also missed the Magic's first-round playoff series against the Detroit Pistons.
