According to ESPN , the Celtics previously declined to exercise their $ 2.6 million team option on Harper II for next season , after which the two sides began new contract negotiations and eventually reached a three- year , $ 9 million long-term agreement.
The 26- year-old Harper II is 1.96 meters tall and can play multiple positions including guard and wing. He is the son of NBA legend Ron Harper and the brother of San Antonio Spurs rookie Dylan Harper .
Harper Jr. went undrafted in the 2022 NBA draft and subsequently played for the Raptors and Pistons, signing two-way contracts for three consecutive seasons. In 2025 , he signed a two-way contract with the Celtics and earned a permanent roster spot in April 2026 .
