Trabzonspor announced on its official website on Wednesday that Liverpool's legendary Egypt international right winger Mohamed Salah has joined the club on a free transfer.
According to the Turkish Süper Lig powerhouse's official statement, Salah has signed on a short-term two-year deal with the club which will only run until the summer of 2028. He will also wear the number 10 jersey.
About Mohamed Salah
The 34-year-old Mohamed Salah, whose nickname is "Pharaoh" or "Egyptian King," was born on June 15, 1992, in Nagrig, Basyoun, Western Governorate, Egypt. He is 1.75 meters tall and primarily plays as a right winger but can also play as a center forward.
When Salah was young, he played for the youth academies of Ittihad-Basyoun and Othmason Tanta. At the age of 14, he was spotted by a scout and joined the Al-Mokawloon youth academy and completed his Al-Mokawloon first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in an Egyptian Premier League match.
In April 2012, Salah joined Basel.
During his time with Basel, Salah won the Swiss Super League twice with the club and was pursued fiercely by Chelsea after scoring and playing tricks against his opponent in a UEFA Champions League match against Chelsea.
In January 2014, Chelsea joined Chelsea for £11 million.
It is worth mentioning that Liverpool had actually already wanted to sign Salah at that time, but missed the opportunity because they made an offer too late.
During his time with the Blues, Salah rarely got chances to play due to fierce competition for positions.
On the winter transfer window deadline day of the following year, Salah was loaned-out to Fiorentina.
In August 2015, Salah joined Roma on-loan with an option-to-buy, and his ownership was officially bought out the following summer.
During the two-year spell with I Giallorossi, Salah attracted the attention of many European giants with his extremely high goalscoring and assists efficiency.
In July 2017, Salah finally joined Liverpool for £43 million, becoming the most expensive player in Egyptian football history.
During this spell, the "Terrifying Front-Three" partnership which he had formed with his former teammates Sadio Mané and Roberto Firmino was one of the most efficient forward partnerships in European football history.
At the same time, Salah is also the most goalscoring efficient striker in Liverpool's modern history since Fernando Torres and Luis Suárez.
However, in the 2025/26 season, a major falling out with then-head coach Arne Slot led to a sudden and dramatic decline in Salah's form, culminating in his termination of his contract and departure at the end of the season.
During his nine-year spell with the Reds, Salah made 442 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool, scoring 257 goals and providing 123 assists. During which, he has won the Carabao Cup twice, the English Community Shield once, the English FA Cup once, the Premier League twice, the UEFA Champions League once, the UEFA Super Cup once, and the FIFA Club World Cup once with the club. He has continuously broken many goals and assists records in the Premier League, the Champions League and Liverpool's club history.
At the same time, he is also the third Liverpool's third all-time goalscorer in the club's history.
