Sources: Suns acquire Miles Bridges in trade

According to ESPN, the Charlotte Hornets and Phoenix Suns have reached a trade agreement, with the Hornets sending 28-year-old veteran Miles Bridges, a 2029 first-round pick, and a 2027 second-round pick to the Suns in exchange for Grayson Allen, Royce O'Neal, and a 2033 first-round pick.

Bridges has spent his entire professional career with the Hornets since entering the league through the draft. Last season, he averaged 17.1 points and 5.8 rebounds per game, serving as a key veteran leader and a tough core player in the paint for the team.

With Bridges' assistance, the Hornets surged from 19 wins the previous season to 44 wins last season, and had the league's best offensive efficiency and fifth-best defensive efficiency in the second half of the regular season, just one play-in tournament away from breaking their playoff drought since 2016.

Previously, Bridges was suspended for not publicly defending domestic violence allegations, missing the entire 2022-23 season and part of the 2023-24 season. He currently has one year remaining on his contract signed in 2024.

This trade not only saved the Suns $20 million in luxury tax but also freed up a roster spot before free agency began. It's worth noting that the Suns' owner, general manager, and head coach all have Michigan State University backgrounds, which is Bridges' alma mater.
