Jaylen Brown was traded to the 76ers, and he expressed mixed feelings of excitement and disappointment.

According to ESPN, the Boston Celtics have reached an agreement with the Philadelphia 76ers to trade their star forward Jaylen Brown to the 76ers in exchange for Paul George and four future draft picks (including two first-round picks and two second-round picks). Due to rule restrictions, the trade will be officially announced next Monday.

The 29-year-old Brown just had his peak season, averaging 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game. He was not only selected to the All-NBA Second Team, but also won the Eastern Conference Finals MVP and the NBA Finals MVP in 2024, leading the Celtics to their 18th championship in franchise history.

In the preceding weeks, trade rumors surrounding Brown had been circulating, with the Celtics attempting to offer him to the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for Giannis Antetokounmpo, but the deal fell through.

Faced with the reality of being traded, Brown issued a statement on social media, revealing his complex feelings: "I'm still processing how this all happened. I feel both excited and disappointed."

“I earned the respect of this city. I never asked for shortcuts or special treatment. I just showed up on time every day, worked hard, and accepted every challenge. When you put your heart and soul into something, it’s not easy to say goodbye.”

Regarding the future, Brown also demonstrated the responsibility of a professional player: "I'm excited about the future and grateful for the opportunity to join Philadelphia.
