Official: The Pelicans have reached a contract extension agreement with 37-year-old veteran center DeAndre Jordan.

The NBA has officially confirmed that the New Orleans Pelicans have reached a contract extension agreement with veteran center DeAndre Jordan. All indications suggest that the two sides have signed a one-year minimum salary contract.

Upon returning to New Orleans, the 37-year-old DeAndre Jordan will be entering his 19th NBA season. He is expected to continue his role as locker room leader next season, while also helping 2025 first-round pick Derrick Quinn establish himself in the league.

DeAndre Jordan, the 35th overall pick in the second round of the 2008 NBA draft, played for the Los Angeles Clippers, Dallas Mavericks, New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers, and Denver Nuggets throughout his career. During this time, he played 1,111 regular season games, averaging 8.5 points, 9.7 rebounds, 0.9 assists, and 1.4 blocks in 25.1 minutes per game, and garnered numerous individual accolades, including a 2016 NBA All-NBA First Team selection, a 2017 All-Star appearance, and two rebounding titles.

DeAndre Jordan also played 73 playoff games, averaging 8.0 points, 9.2 rebounds, 0.9 assists, and 1.7 blocks per game. His most notable playoff achievement was undoubtedly winning his first NBA championship with the Denver Nuggets in 2023.

Since joining the Pelicans in October 2025, DeAndre Jordan has only played 12 regular season games, averaging 4.4 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 0.9 assists in 16.6 minutes per game, with a field goal percentage of 65.6%. His contributions to the Pelicans are more evident in his leadership and mentorship, and he has provided strong support in the development of Zion Williamson and Derrick Quinn.
