Newcastle United sign Golden Boy nominee Araghi Bamba

Premier League club Newcastle United have officially announced the signing of 20-year-old French midfield star Aladji Bamba from Monaco.

The French U20 international has signed a five-year contract with Newcastle United for an undisclosed fee. He will wear the number 8 jersey and become the club's fourth signing this summer, following Evan Yaoundé, Bazumana Touré, and Shane Stewart.

Bamba, a product of Monaco's youth academy, made 25 appearances for the first team in all competitions last season, including 5 Champions League matches (including a knockout stage game against Paris Saint-Germain). He not only won the Maurice Reverlo Cup with the French U20 team, but was also shortlisted for the 2026 European Golden Boy award, making him one of the most promising young stars in European football.

Speaking about joining the club, Bamba excitedly said, "This is a completely new challenge, and I'm excited to test myself in the Premier League, the biggest league in the world. I learned a lot last season and am ready for new opportunities. I will give everything for Newcastle United."

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has high hopes for the midfield star, saying in an interview: "I am very happy to see Alaj join us. He is an exciting and promising young player."

“His progress at Monaco has been impressive. He mainly plays as a defensive midfielder, but he has the ability to cover the entire field and contribute. We are very much looking forward to working with him and believe we can help him go even further.”
