Sources reveal that the Warriors have hired Frank Vogel as assistant head coach.

According to ESPN reporter Shams Charania, league sources revealed that the Golden State Warriors have agreed to hire veteran NBA coach Frank Vogel as assistant head coach. He will join head coach Steve Kerr's coaching staff to fill the position left vacant by Terry Stotts' departure.

The 53-year-old Vogel has an extensive coaching resume in the NBA, having served as head coach for a total of 12 seasons with four different teams. He led the Los Angeles Lakers to the NBA championship in 2020 and led the Indiana Pacers to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2013 and 2014.

After a brief stint coaching the Phoenix Suns for one year during the 2023-24 season, Vogel joined the Dallas Mavericks' coaching staff for the past two seasons, initially as a consultant before taking a front-row seat on the assistant coaching bench in the recently concluded season.

This offseason, the Warriors' coaching staff underwent significant changes. Two key assistant coaches, Stotts and Jerry Stackhouse, both left the team after the season ended, while another long-serving assistant coach, Chris DeMarco, also left in January to become the head coach of the New York Liberty in the WNBA.

Vogel's arrival is the most important acquisition in the Warriors' coaching staff reshuffle this summer. For the past two seasons, the Warriors' defensive tactics were primarily handled by Stackhouse and DeMarcus. With their departure, Vogel is expected to play a central role in developing and coordinating defensive strategies for the new season.
