Leeds United goalkeeper Carl Dalow has joined Manchester United on a free transfer and will wear the number 12 shirt.

Manchester United have released an official statement confirming the free transfer of former Leeds United goalkeeper Carl Dalot. The two sides have reached an agreement on a contract until June 2028, with an option to extend for another year.

The official announcement also confirmed that Dalot will wear the number 12 jersey for Manchester United next season.

The 35-year-old Darlow was born in Northampton, England, and is the grandson of former Welsh international striker Ken Leek. He trained in the youth systems of Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest in his early years, and made his professional debut on May 7, 2011, in the final match of the Championship season.

To date, Darlow has played for Nottingham Forest, Newport County, Walsall, Newcastle United, Hull City, and Leeds United. He has made a total of 279 club appearances, including 74 in the Premier League.

All indications suggest that Manchester United intended Dalot to be Senne Lamenz's backup goalkeeper. Following the transfer, Red Devils director Jason Wilcox welcomed the arrival: "Karl has proven his ability to perform at the highest level, and his professionalism and tenacity make him a valuable asset to our squad. We are delighted to have such a talented and experienced player in our excellent goalkeeping team."

Dalot himself said: "I am incredibly honored to join Manchester United. I will be joining an excellent goalkeeping team. I look forward to inspiring each other and ensuring that we always maintain the highest standards required by the club."
