The NBA's decision not to punish Adebayo and Herro has officially quelled the controversy surrounding their conflict.

July 17 - According to ESPN , the NBA has decided not to punish Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo for the physical altercation with former teammate Tyler Herro in Las Vegas .

A league spokesperson stated: " After communicating with the players involved and the players' union, all parties hope to move past this unpleasant experience; therefore, the league will not take any further action. "

Previously, Herro had stated in an interview that he hoped to move on from the incident as soon as possible. " To be honest, I just want to put this behind me. I'm focused on the Bucks now and hope to help the team achieve something special, " Herro said.

According to sources, Adebayor confronted Herro, his former teammate, due to his dissatisfaction with her comments on social media. A verbal altercation ensued, escalating into a physical confrontation. Sources claim Adebayor struck Herro near the chin, but accounts of the specifics differ.

In the 2025-26 season, Herro only played 33 games due to injury, averaging 20.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game; Adebayo, on the other hand, contributed 20.1 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.2 steals per game, and was selected to the All-Defensive Team for the sixth consecutive season.
