Getafe officially announced on Thursday the loan signing of Spanish right-back Andrés García from Aston Villa until the end of the 2025/26 season. Multiple sources indicate that the loan agreement includes an option to buy.
There are also indications that Garcia will wear the number 21 jersey at Getafe. His arrival is expected to fill the void left by Juan Iglesias' departure and compete with Kiko Femenia for a starting position.
The 23-year-old Garcia came through Levante's youth academy and made his professional debut on January 4, 2023, in a Copa del Rey third-round match against Getafe. By the time he transferred to Aston Villa in January 2025, he had made 50 appearances for Levante, scoring 4 goals and providing 6 assists.
However, Garcia has had few opportunities to play for Aston Villa. He has made only 18 appearances for Villa so far, accumulating a total of 615 minutes.
After signing the contract, Garcia remarked, "My first professional match was against Getafe, and now I happen to be here. What a wonderful coincidence."
"About five or six days ago, joining Getafe became a very real possibility. After discussing with the agent, we have been waiting for final confirmation for the past few days."
“From the beginning, I told my agent that I agreed to join Getafe. Getafe is a club that is a perfect fit for me, as I am full of fighting spirit and drive. The city also feels very much like me. Therefore, making this decision was actually quite easy.”
“I believe we will build a great team and have a very good season. As for myself, I promise to give my all in every game. I will not lie to anyone. I will try my best to show my best and be fully committed to it.”
