Official: The Thunder traded Dort to the Hawks, and the Mavericks acquired Lisa Shee in return.

On July 19th local time, the Oklahoma City Thunder, Atlanta Hawks, and Dallas Mavericks officially completed a three-way trade. The specific trade details are as follows:

The Thunder received: a 2027 second-round pick from the Chicago Bulls (from the Mavericks), and the highest-drafted second-round picks from the Hawks in 2031 and 2032.

The Hawks acquired: Lugenz Dort and Ryan Nembhard.

The Mavericks acquire: Zachary Lissachet

Through this trade, the Thunder successfully reduced their expenses. By sending Dort away, they not only acquired a $17.7 million trade exception, but also lowered their total salary to below the second-highest earner level.

In fact, Dort's departure was just one part of the Thunder's summer clear-out plan. Earlier this month, the management traded Isaiah Joe and Aaron Wiggins to the Pistons and Hawks respectively, in exchange for four second-round picks.

The Hawks have further strengthened their perimeter defense by acquiring Dort. As a member of the 2024/25 NBA All-Defensive First Team, Dort will join Dyson Daniels and Nickel Alexander-Walker to anchor Atlanta's defense next season.

The Mavericks seized this opportunity to successfully acquire Risashe, the 2024 NBA number one draft pick. Despite Risashe's underperformance in the past two years, the Mavericks remain confident in him. They believe he has a very high ceiling and is poised to become a crucial piece of the team's future frontcourt.
