Belgium coach Rudi Garcia has announced his resignation due to the expiration of his term.

The Belgian Football Federation (RBFA) officially announced on Monday that Rudi Garcia will leave his position as national team coach after his term expires this month.

The 62-year-old Garcia has managed Saint-Étienne, Dijon, Le Mans, Lille, Roma, Marseille, Lyon, Al-Nassr, and Napoli, accumulating a record of 410 wins, 210 draws, and 211 losses. His most representative coaching achievement is undoubtedly leading Lille to a Ligue 1 title and a French Cup in the 2010/11 season.

In February 2025, Garcia officially succeeded Domenico Tedesco as head coach of the Belgian national team. During his tenure, he led the "Red Devils" to a record of 12 wins, 6 draws, and 2 losses, and advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2026 USA-Mexico World Cup.

In an official statement, Belgian Football Association Sporting Director Vincent Mannault said: "Rudi Garcia has made outstanding contributions to the revival of the Belgian national team. When he took office, Belgium was facing a double crisis on both a sporting and financial level. Thanks to his dedication and rich experience, the national team's cohesion was restored, and they achieved excellent results in the recently concluded World Cup."

“On behalf of the Belgian Football Federation, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Rudy and his team for their hard work over the past 18 months. My team and I are currently preparing for the new cycle, which includes the appointment of a new national team coach.”

Garcia added: "Following discussions with the Belgian Football Federation, we have decided not to continue our excellent cooperation of nearly 18 months. I led Belgium to retain their UEFA Nations League A qualification and to a place in the world's top eight. I want to thank the outstanding players, sporting director Vincent Mannate, and the fans who supported us throughout the World Cup. I sincerely wish Belgium all the best in advancing the generational transition that I was happy to help initiate."
