Comoros has confirmed a contract extension agreement with captain Lucas da Cunha, who will continue to play for the team until 2031.

Como 1907 officially announced that team captain Lucas da Cunha has reached a contract extension agreement with the club, extending his contract until 2031. Since joining the team in the winter transfer window of 2023, the midfielder has made 129 appearances for Como, covering Serie B, the Coppa Italia, and Serie A, scoring 20 goals and providing 15 assists.  

As one of Como's longest-serving players, Lucas da Cunha has witnessed and participated in the club's significant transformation in recent years. He has grown alongside the team, helping Como end a 21-year wait to return to Serie A. After being promoted to captain, he led the team to make history in May 2026, qualifying for the Champions League for the first time.  

When asked about his feelings on completing the contract extension, Lucas da Cunha said, "My experience in Como has not only helped me improve on a football level, but also made me more mature in life. Since coming here, I have felt more than just a club; I have felt like I am part of a big family that truly accepts me."  

"Returning to Serie A and making our first appearance in the Champions League are not our ultimate goals, but rather important motivations that inspire the team to keep moving forward. I am incredibly proud and happy to continue playing for Como. I can't wait to start a new chapter with the club, my teammates, and all the fans who support us."  

Como manager Cesc Fabregas was delighted with Lucas da Cunha's contract extension and spoke highly of him, saying, "Lucas da Cunha is the best embodiment of Como's philosophy. He has shown the team spirit we want to cultivate. When he first came here, I had the opportunity to play with him as a teammate, but now I have witnessed him grow into an important figure."
