Tom Büssoff, who took over the number 8 jersey, hopes to win more titles with Bayern Munich.

With Goretzka leaving Bayern Munich this summer, 21-year-old Tom Büschof has taken over the number 8 jersey. Büschof stated that the number 8 is a more suitable number for him and that he aims to help Bayern Munich win more titles with his teammates in the new season.

In the 2025/26 Bundesliga season, Tom Büschoff made 26 appearances for Bayern Munich, scoring 3 goals and providing 3 assists for Vincent Kompany's team, and also won the Bundesliga title and the German Cup with the team.

Bayern Munich midfielder Tom Bischoff said in an interview, "When we were kids, everyone dreamed of wearing the number 10 jersey, and I was one of them. But now, I play deeper and more as a defensive midfielder, so the number 8 jersey is a very suitable number for me."

“Out of respect for Goretzka, I really waited for a while, and I wouldn’t ask beforehand about something like this. I wanted to see what Pavlovic would choose first. He came to Bayern Munich before me and is a good friend of mine. I have always respected him. I talked to him and wanted to know if he would choose number 8. However, Pavlovic decided to continue using his number, so in the end I took over the number 8 jersey.”

Tom Bischoff also said, "I'm really happy about this. I applied and quickly got the club's support. They agreed to let me wear this number. Now, I hope to take a new step in my career."

“Pavlovic, Kimmich, and I compete and inspire each other in midfield. Everyone wants to get playing time, which motivates everyone to improve and helps the whole team become stronger. I am full of confidence in taking on this role.”

In addition, Tom Bischoff shared, "I've always said that I came to Bayern Munich because it's my dream club and a place where I can win championships. Last season, we performed exceptionally well as a team. The team had a very strong sense of cohesion and had a very successful season."

“It’s been a fantastic season. I’ve learned a lot and grown a lot. I’ve played in different positions, and these experiences will benefit my career. I hope everything will be even better in the new season, and I hope to win more championships with the team.”
