Leicester City's Zambia international center forward Patson Daka officially joins Hamburg on a free transfer..

Hamburg announced on their official website on Wednesday that Leicester City's Zambia international center forward Patson Daka has joined the club on a free transfer after his contract expired.

According to Hamburg's official statement, Daka has signed on a short-term one-year deal with the club which will only run until the summer of 2027, with an option to extend for a further year.

After completing his transfer, Daka, who was interviewed by the Bundesliga club's official website for the first time, said: "I'm very happy to be here and can't wait to get started. I'm a passionate and energetic player, and my job is to score goals. I think this is exactly how I can help the team."

"I've watched a few Hamburg games and really liked the spirit they showed. It's an exciting team, and I'm happy to be a part of it."

"The management gave me a very warm welcome, and from our first conversation, I felt a strong family atmosphere. Everything clicked, so I made the decision quickly. All the positive communication made me decide without hesitation."

About Patson Daka

The 27-year-old Daka was born on October 9, 1998, in Chingola, Zambia. He is 1.83 meters tall and plays as a center forward.

Daka played in the youth system of Cafue Celtic as a child and also had loan spells with Nchanga Rangers and Dinamo Dynamics.

Daka was named the Zambian Super League's Young Player of the Year for his outstanding performances during his time at Power Dynamos.

After graduating in January 2017, Daka joined Red Bull Salzburg, but was immediately assigned to play for their satellite team, Liefering.

That summer, Daka was promoted to Red Bull Salzburg's first-team, before completing his debut by coming on as a substitute in August 2017.

During his four-year spell at Salzburg, Daka won the Austrian Bundesliga four times and the Austrian Cup three times. He also broke the record by becoming the first Zambian to score in the UEFA Champions League.

In 2021, Daka joined Leicester City for £23 million.

However, plagued by injuries and persistent issues with his form, Daka's performances showed signs of decline year by year.

During his five-year spell at the Foxes, Daka made 165 appearances for the EFL League One club in all competitions, scoring 29 goals and providing 18 assists, winning one EFL Championship title and one Community Shield.
