Kentavious Caldwell-Pope reached a buyout agreement with the Grizzlies to join the 76ers for one year and $3.9 million.

July 27th - According to ESPN, sources revealed that the Memphis Grizzlies have reached a buyout agreement with guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. After clearing waivers, the two-time NBA champion will sign a one-year, $3.9 million contract with the Philadelphia 76ers.

The buyout was completed by the Grizzlies and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope's agent, Rich Paul, CEO of Klutch Sports. With Caldwell-Pope joining the 76ers, he will bolster the team's outside shooting and defensive experience. Just a day earlier, the team had signed LeBron James, further enhancing their competitiveness in the Eastern Conference.

The 33-year-old Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has won two NBA championships in his career, including a 2020 title with the Lakers alongside LeBron James, and a 2023 title with the Nuggets. Last season, he underwent surgery for a dislocated little finger on his right hand, missing the final 31 games of the regular season. Before his injury, he played 51 games for the Grizzlies, averaging 8.4 points, 2.7 assists, and 2.5 rebounds per game, with a 49.5% field goal percentage and a 31.6% three-point percentage.

As a well-known 3D player in the league, Pope had a three-point shooting percentage of over 39% for several consecutive seasons from 2020 to 2024, but his outside shooting touch has declined in the past two seasons, with a highest of only 34.2%.
