32-year-old Stones is about to become a free agent and is expected to join Inter Milan.

After leaving Manchester City, where he played for many years, 32-year-old England centre-back John Stones is about to embark on a new chapter in his professional career.

It is understood that Italian Serie A giants Inter Milan are very close to signing Stones on a free transfer. Last season at Manchester City, Stones was plagued by injuries and only made 18 appearances, but he rediscovered his top-class center-back abilities at the subsequent World Cup.

As a key member of England manager Thomas Tuchel's defense, Stones frequently started in crucial knockout and semi-final matches, helping England reach the semi-finals with his solid performances. It was this impressive national team record that convinced Inter Milan, who had previously expressed interest in him, to commit and take the lead in the race for his services.

Despite being in the later stages of his career, Stones still has a strong desire to compete at the top level. He previously stated, "I feel very physically fit and can still contribute a lot to the club. The new challenges are exciting, and I'm willing to pass on my past experience."

While Inter Milan are confident about the signing, potential uncertainties remain. Arsenal need to strengthen their defense due to Willian Saliba's long-term injury, and Chelsea, who employ a three-center-back system, also have a need to bring in a center-back.

Stones' next destination remains uncertain if a suitable Premier League giant makes an offer. However, for now, the England legend is very close to starting a new Serie A journey with Inter Milan.
