Jamie Gitens: My chemistry with my teammates is getting better and better, and everything is moving in a positive direction.

Chelsea winger Jamie Gitens says he's gradually regaining his best form after helping the team to a 6-4 victory over Western Sydney Wanderers in their first preseason game and is full of confidence for the new season. He believes that both he and the team are moving in a positive direction.  

The friendly match in Sydney was fast-paced and goal-fest, with both sides engaging in fierce attacks. In the second half, Jamie Gitens scored to level the score at 3-3. Then, João Pedro completed his hat-trick in just nine minutes, securing the victory for Chelsea.  

Jamie Gitens, hampered by injuries for much of last season, failed to fully showcase his abilities in his first season with Chelsea. The 21-year-old winger says he is now physically fit and hopes to stay healthy and deliver consistent performances in the new season.  

Jamie Gitens said after the match: "I feel great right now. My injury is healing well, so both my physical condition and my feel for the game are much better than before. My teamwork is also getting better and better, and everything is moving in a positive direction. Although I experienced a lot of difficulties last season, and that period was indeed disappointing, thank God I overcame it all. It feels wonderful to be back on the field, score goals, and fight alongside my teammates again."  

Speaking about his goal, Jamie Gitens said the attack stemmed from João Pedro's brilliant individual breakthrough. He received the pass, calmly slotted the ball into the net from inside the penalty area, and reignited the team's hopes of victory. Besides being satisfied with his goal, he also highly praised Western Sydney Wanderers' performance in the match.  

He said, "Western Sydney Wanderers played exceptionally well in this match. They maintained a proactive attitude throughout and constantly put pressure on us. Scoring four goals in the game is enough to prove their strength. For me, whether it's a friendly or an official match, scoring goals makes me happy. I hope I can continue to maintain this form."  

Besides discussing his own performance, Jamie Gitens also mentioned new manager Xabi Alonso. This is Alonso's first time leading the team as Chelsea manager, and Gitens stated that since officially taking over the team in July, the Spanish coach has brought positive changes to the squad and has had a good impact on his own development.  

Jamie Gitens added: “He has been a great help to me personally, especially in providing a lot of guidance in daily training. He has always been supportive and encouraging, which makes me feel a lot of trust. He is not only a very good coach, but also a very easy person to communicate with. He gives me advice in both training and matches, which is very important for my growth and the development of the team. I am very happy to be able to play under his guidance.”
