Mongolian Counter Strike 2 (CS2) esports powerhouse The MongolZ announced on Tuesday via their X (Twitter) account that head coach maaRaa will be unable to travel with the team for the BLAST Bounty and the Esport World Cup.
The MongolZ did not specify the reason for maaRaa's absence, and this is not the first time the head coach has suddenly been unable to participate in a tournament.
Despite not being able to attend in person, maaRaa will continue to provide live online guidance.
Previously, maaRaa also abruptly missed ESL Pro League Season 23 and the BLAST Open Rotterdam. The MongolZ were eliminated in the quarterfinals of both tournaments.
maaRaa's absence again is undoubtedly a heavy blow to The MongolZ. The team, thanks to outstanding performances from tikuak and DarkMeister, successfully advanced to the BLAST Bounty playoffs in their debut match.
Their hopes were already slim, and now, without maaRaa, who was voted the second-best coach by his peers last year, defending their 2025 Esport World Cup title has become even more difficult.
The MongolZ's current roster is:
In-Game Leader: bLitz
AWP-er: 910
Rifler: DarkMeister
Rifler: Techno4K
Rifler: tikuak
Head Coach: maaRaa
