Eintracht Frankfurt have officially announced the signing of Brazilian center-back Otavio on a five-year contract.

Eintracht Frankfurt announced on Tuesday the signing of Brazilian center-back Otavio Manuel Gardino Fernandez from Star Amadera. The two sides signed a five-year contract, valid until June 30, 2031.

The official announcement also confirmed that Otavio will wear the number 5 jersey in Frankfurt.

Otavio, 20, developed through the youth academies of Camporiu and Botafogo and officially joined Amadora Stars U23 in September 2024. Since making his professional debut on October 25, 2025, he has made 22 appearances for Amadora Stars and provided one assist.

Based on his immense potential shown in the Portuguese league, Otavio attracted interest from several clubs this summer, including Celta Vigo, Rangers, Houston Dynamo, Almería, and Panathinaikos. However, Eintracht Frankfurt ultimately spent €4.5 million to bring the Brazilian to their ranks.

For Eintracht Frankfurt, Otavio's arrival will effectively fill the void left by the departures of Aurel Armenia or Helvoye Smolčić. In a statement, Fajar Sporting Director Timo Haddourn said: "Otavio is a young and exceptionally talented center-back with tremendous potential. As a left-footed player, he is tall, physically gifted, extremely fast, and possesses outstanding defensive awareness. This is exactly the area we are looking to strengthen. We believe he will bring much joy to Frankfurt."

Otavio added: "I am very happy to wear the Eintracht Frankfurt jersey from today. Joining a club with a long history and frequent participation in major competitions is both a dream come true and a very important step in my career."
