Lyon officially announced on Wednesday the loan signing of Belgian striker Lois Openda from Juventus until the end of the 2026/27 season. He will wear the number 17 jersey for Lyon, and the contract does not include any option to buy.
The official confirmation also states that Oppenda's loan fee is €3.5 million. As for his salary, Lyon will cover 40% of it.
The 26-year-old Oppenheimer, who grew up in the youth systems of Standard Liège and Club Brugge, made his professional debut on August 10, 2018, in a Belgian First Division A match. He subsequently played for Vitesse, Lens, and RB Leipzig, where he played a key role in RB Leipzig's victory in the 2023/24 German Super Cup.
In September 2025, Openda joined Juventus on a loan with an option to buy. To date, he has made 34 appearances for the Bianconeri, scoring 2 goals.
Following the signing, Openda stated, "I have heard a lot of positive things about the club and the city. I had an in-depth discussion with the manager, who explained his tactical philosophy and my role. We are both looking forward to working together."
“I’ve also been communicating a lot with my Belgian compatriots in the team and I can’t wait to play alongside them on the field. I love football and am eager to get back on the pitch as soon as possible, bring joy to the fans, and most importantly, win games.”
