The U.S. Soccer Federation is expected to extend Pochettino's contract as negotiations enter the final stage.

According to multiple media outlets, negotiations between U.S. men's national soccer head coach Mauricio Pochettino and the U.S. Soccer Federation for a contract extension have entered the final stage, and the two sides are expected to sign a new contract extending until the 2030 World Cup.

Pochettino took over the US national team in September 2024 and led the team to the 2026 World Cup. Although the team suffered a humiliating 1-4 defeat to Belgium in the Round of 16, ending their run in the group stage, they still achieved their best-ever World Cup group stage result.

Both sides expressed their willingness to continue cooperation and hope to build on the existing progress to jointly prepare for the next World Cup cycle. To allow the coaching staff to focus wholeheartedly on preparing for the series of friendly matches starting in late September, both sides are accelerating the negotiation process.

It is reported that the Argentine coach's new contract will see a "significant increase" in salary. In his previous contract, his annual salary was approximately $6 million, with a signing bonus of $2.5 million, which placed him among the top three highest-paid national team coaches in the world.

Previously, Pochettino had been linked with top European clubs such as Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid for coaching positions, but as these clubs have successively appointed new managers, he has turned his attention back to the national team.

With the agreement nearing completion, the U.S. Soccer Federation and Pochettino will officially begin their next four-year partnership, aiming for the 2030 World Cup.
