The Hornets have waived Muhammad Gueye, who will join Valencia in Spain.

July 31st news, The Charlotte Hornets have officially waived forward Mohamed Gueye . Previously, Spanish basketball club Valencia announced last week that they had reached an agreement with Gueye, and the player is expected to join the team for the new season.

 

In the 2025-26 season, the 2.06-meter-tall Gaye played 47 games for the Windy City Bulls , averaging 14.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.4 blocks per game.

 

Based on his performance in the Development League, Gaye received a two-year contract from the Bulls at the end of last season and played twice in the final stages of the regular season, contributing 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists.

 

This summer, Gaye was sent to the Hornets in a four-team trade involving LaMelo Ball , Julius Randle , and Nick Claxton , primarily to meet trade rules requirements. Because his 2026-27 contract was non-guaranteed, the Hornets ultimately chose to waive him.
