Kik Salas: We need to maintain greater discipline and minimize the space for our opponents to create opportunities.

During the team's preseason preparations, Sevilla defender Quique Salas gave an interview to the club's official media, sharing his views on the team's current preparation progress, the adaptation of new signings, the development of young players, and his own form. Previously, Sevilla defeated NEC Nijmegen 2-1 in a preseason friendly in the Netherlands. After the match, Quique Salas believed that the preseason training camp played a crucial role in enhancing team cohesion and unity.  

Kik Salas said: "This kind of concentrated training is very important for the team. It helps us build a stronger cohesion. We have more time to spend together, and our understanding and trust in each other are constantly increasing. At the same time, this is also a key stage for us to prepare for the new league season. The team's training atmosphere is very positive right now, our form is gradually improving, and most importantly, we are building real team cohesion."  

"The team is gradually finding its form, and it's a gradual process. There are always some difficulties at the beginning of the preseason, but as training progresses, we feel better and better, and that's already showing in the games. We are working hard to absorb the head coach's tactical philosophy and hope to be in the best condition for the first official game of the new season. Our opponents have presented us with a great challenge. They play with high intensity, fast pace, and strong physicality, especially in pressing. It was very important that we were able to stay focused and respond accordingly."  

Quique Salas revealed that head coach Luis García Praza is currently prioritizing defensive drills. He stated, "The team is investing heavily in improving our defense, which is something the coach is emphasizing. We need to maintain a higher level of discipline and limit the opponent's opportunities as much as possible."  

“Through daily training, we are gradually reaching this goal and have already seen positive changes in matches. There is another match tomorrow, and we will continue to improve our defense. Defense is never the task of one position, but a responsibility shared by the whole team. If the defenders can organize and distribute the ball more calmly, the forwards will also be under less pressure.”  

"Being able to prepare with the head coach before the start of the new season is very important for the team. Last season we didn't have much time to fully implement his ideas, as the primary task was to achieve results. Now, we have more opportunities to understand and execute his tactical philosophy, and the whole team is very positive and moving towards the same goal."  

Speaking about his form, Kik Salas said, "I felt great at the end of last season. It makes me very happy to play here, to play for the team in my hometown. A player often performs at his best when he is in a comfortable and positive environment. Going forward, I hope to continue to improve and always give my all."  

"For every player from the youth academy, making it into the first team is an honor. We need to prove through our performance that we have the ability to stay and can contribute to the team.
